“Season” Begins in the Florida Keys

“Season”, for the most part from the week after Thanksgiving until the end of May is the busiest time in the Florida Keys.

I live right on US1 and the traffic can be very busy on Friday’s and Monday’s.. so if you are driving try to avoid those days. I did just find out that Dollar-Rent-a-Car is running a convertible special through December 19th as well.

This last week was “Pirates in Paradise” and it was not only fantastic weather for the week longNight Sail event but also the turnout was great. If you are planning on attending next year bookmark their page so you have the exact dates for your trip.

For the next couple of weeks starting on the 7th of this month, Key West Innkeepers Association hosts tours every Friday and Saturday evening of the beautifully decorated historic inns of Key West. Key West is known for its historic inns and is brought to you by The Key West Innkeepers Association features 65 Inns, Guesthouses, B&B’s and Vacation Rentals. For information on available accommodations, visit keywestinns.com or contact the Key West Innkeepers Association toll-free at (800) 492-1911.

This is a really fun thing to do in the evening after a long day of tourist activities. On December 9th there are a couple of activities going on. Marathon has its lighted boat parade in Boot Key Harbor, and the same night Big Pine Key is having its Winterfest Musical Festival. See my post “Christmas in the Florida Keys, December events” for more details.
